Food Distribution

Our foodbank is set up as a boutique grocery store, where qualified individuals and families can shop for their own groceries at no cost through our voucher system.

Nearly a quarter (24.4%) of the people in our community live below the poverty level, which is double the national rate of 12.3 percent. This means there are many families that do not know when or where they will get their next meal. The Dream Center addresses this need by distributing approximately two million pounds of food each year to more than 12,000 people. Our foodbank is set up as a boutique grocery store, where qualified individuals and families can shop for their own groceries at no cost through our voucher system.

DC Academy

DC Academy

The Dream Center Academy (DCA) offers at-risk children a brighter future by inspiring hope and supporting dreams. Caring and committed, DCA gives a hand-up to families who need help in seeing their children thrive. The DCA after school program offers a safe and family-focused environment where students can learn, grow, be challenged and receive guidance. Here, students engage in a variety of learning, social and emotional development training, activities and games three days per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the school year from 3pm to 6pm.

  • Family Huddles: Students are encouraged daily upon arrival with an inspirational  family-style welcome that lets them know they are important and loved.
  • Class Work: Certified teachers and college students in education majors work with children to help them master their current school subjects.
  • Skill-Building: Students learn to process life’s challenges via emotional learning classes.
  • Fun & Games: Children enjoy a variety of games, team-building exercises and activities that enable them to expend energy and build friendships.
  • Snack Time: A healthy meal is provided to ensure children are able to focus.

Adopt-A-Block

Adopt-A-Block is a program that focuses on serving under-resourced neighborhoods through prayer and practical services that bring value to the community. Volunteers distribute food, hygiene items and other essentials to neighbors, and share information about services available to them that offer emotional, physical, mental and spiritual support.

Adopt-a-Block also invests in the children of the community through KidzJam. The KidzJam program provides emotional, mental, physical and spiritual support to youths through sports, games and other activities. Dream Center volunteers and staff enjoy making a difference in the lives of kids by being a positive and consistent presence in their lives.
